This website is for health practitioners working with whānau.

It’s the end result of a lot mahi that’s taken place over the last few years on PHARMAC’s Māori Responsiveness Strategy and other PHARMAC initiatives focused Māori health and well-being.

In the consultation that’s taken place, in the data PHARMAC has gathered and in the discussions had with health professionals and whānau, several key issues emerged that this website hopes to address.

They are:

  • poor access to and use of medicines among whānau
  • lack of knowledge within te ao Māori about the role of PHARMAC in the New Zealand health sector
  • a need to promote knowledge and understanding about the role of medicines in preventing illness and maintaining wellness among our Māori community.

PHARMAC is an organisation who takes our commitment to Māori health seriously and we work hard with other health sector organisations to be a part of the solution.

We are committed to Whānau Ora and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, which we demonstrate by supporting high-quality front line health services for whānau, hapu and iwi.

This website is part of that support.
